Current Limiting

When the maximum current a power supply can produce is limited. Generally, a control circuit inside the power supply monitors the current being used by the load. When the load tries to draw more current than the power supply can produce, the control circuit will limit the current drawn to the maximum allowable for the particular power supply. If this situation occurs, the voltage output ‘folds back’ or decreases to limit the current supplied.
